There are a few signs that fall has arrived at Tahoe Beach Club. The mornings get a little cooler, and yes, football returns. Suddenly, otherwise perfectly reasonable Members become deeply concerned about the health of a newly-drafted wide receiver.
Welcome back to fantasy football season Tahoe Beach Club style.
What started a few years ago as a little friendly competition among Members has officially become serious business. How serious? Spots in the Tahoe Beach Club Fantasy Football League now fill within minutes, not hours, and the waitlist has become impressively long.
Apparently, bragging rights at the Club are a hot commodity, and of course, there’s also the trophy.
Our beloved league trophy has become a coveted piece of Tahoe Beach Club hardware, proudly awarded to the champion who successfully navigates drafts, trades, injuries, questionable start-or-sit decisions, and the occasional heartbreak of watching someone from the bench score 30 points.
With the NFL season officially underway last week, the competition has begun once again. Friendships will be tested, group chats will get interesting, and absolutely no one will admit how many times they checked their lineup before kickoff.
However, if you’re on the waiting list, you aren’t out of luck. With plenty of San Francisco 49ers fans among our membership, Niners Nights bring Members together throughout the season to eat, toast, cheer, and collectively offer coaching advice that somehow never makes its way down to the sideline to Coach Shanahan.
Yep, some come for the football and some probably come because watching your team win is simply more fun with a room full of people yelling alongside you. That’s really what these traditions have become. Another reason to gather when summer winds down and Tahoe settles into fall.
Although, if you’re hoping for a spot in next year’s fantasy league, we suggest working on your draft strategy now. Around the clubhouse, apparently, football season waits for no one.
